Brighton Creatives is back

14 years ago, I started Brighton Creatives straight out of uni (2011 grad here! 🎓)

Back then, it was all about championing Brighton’s creative scene — curating content, running events, building connections. For five years, I was a self-employed 20-something figuring it out as I went. And honestly? So proud of what we built.

But I started to notice something: the creatives I was working with weren’t getting paid their worth. Charging them to promote themselves felt wrong, so I pivoted. I focused on teaching, sharing tools, and helping people DIY their way to visibility.

Eventually, I took that community-first approach into the startup world at PLATF9RM, where I got to scale everything I’d learned about content, events and building connection into a brand people genuinely loved being part of.

Fast forward to 2025…

Social media exploded (obviously), but now people are creating for the algorithm instead of from joy or real connection. Whether you’re a founder, an artist, a small business or a musician, I’ve heard the same thing again and again: it’s a “necessary evil” that’s become exhausting. The pressure to post, perform and keep up is burning people out and draining the creativity out of creative work.

So Brighton Creatives is back, but evolved.

We’re now a flexible creative studio helping brands show up with clarity, consistency and confidence. We work with founders and growing teams to close the content gap with photography, video, brand design, strategy and web — stuff you’ll actually use, not file away for “later”.

This new chapter is a true collaboration. Ashley, photographer, videographer, and all-round creative, is now officially on board. We’ve worked together behind the scenes for years, and now we’re building Brighton Creatives together, combining our skills to support brands that want to connect on a more human level.

We’re also growing our extended crew, working with brilliant designers, social media folk, copywriters and creative producers. If that’s you (or someone we should know), come say hi.

In a world where AI can churn out content on command, we’re here for the human side of business. For work that’s thoughtful, strategic, and genuinely useful. For brands that lead with connection and community, not just noise.

Know someone stuck on the content hamster wheel? Or a brilliant business that isn’t presenting itself at its best?

Send them our way. We’d be delighted to help.
